AFLW Indigenous Round Guernsey

September 2022

The symbolic line work on the jumper represents the fierce warrior women at the Richmond Football Club, including AFLW players, Indigenous staff and young women who have come through the Club’s Korin Gamadji Institute. Signifying a turning point for the Club, the colour palette in the sash only uses colours that have never appeared in a Richmond Indigenous jumper.

The ‘Figure 8 Pools’ objective was to infuse a sense of Country via the integration of Aboriginal artwork into the interiors with substantial murals throughout. The Microsoft workplace design concept is derived from the Australian landscape and the predominant elements evidenced within Country.

Yarrila Place Art Trail

The Gumbaynggirr Art Trail at Yarrila Place created by Gumbaynggirr artists, representing clan groups on Gumbaynggirr country – Bagawa, Garby, Garlambirla, Yurrunga, Ngambaga and Gambalamam. This story is about the cultural significance of Garlambirla and the waterways that are brimming with unique ecosystems, nurturing rich biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

The inspiration for ‘Regeneration’ comes from a deep place of spiritual connection to her family, community, culture and respect for Mother Earth. Gumbaynggirr Country is beautiful land with both freshwater and saltwater waterways which inspire her holistic connection to the Ancestors. The design promotes the importance of people and place in the work of NSW Treasury.

Gradute School of Education, Professional Certificate of Indigenous Research

‘Communication’ embodies Josie’s extensive experience in Indigenous research, and key learnings as an alumni of the University of Melbourne Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research and Leadership. She was taught the symbol for communication used by mid-north coast mob in the Old Ways as a teenager with a Moran Aunt now in the Dreaming.

‘Underground' is a story locating practices of reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples at the University of Wollongong. Told through a contemporary cultural lens, Country forms the means by which people can begin to connect with a timeless sense of community. The colours are inspired by Yuin Country.
